Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa and the tallest free-standing mountain in the world, is a prominent feature in Tanzania. Its summit, Uhuru Peak, reaches an elevation of 5,895 meters (19,341 feet). The mountain is part of Kilimanjaro National Park, which is home to a variety of ecosystems and unique flora and fauna.

It is a majestic, dormant volcano stand as the tallest free- standing mountain in the world commonly known as” the roof of Africa” located in the in northeastern Tanzania. Machame route is one of the beautiful route of Kilimanjaro, it provides spectacular view, variety of habitats and scenery view. The machame route can be done in a minimum of six days ( five nights) on the mountain. However, it is most often tackled over seven days for better altitude acclimatization schedule. The trek begins at Machame Gate, located in the southern base of mountain, within its lush, fertile rainforest.

Travel Itinerary

Day 1 - Depart from Moshi to Machame Gate

After breakfast, you and all mountain crew depart Arusha to Machame gate ( 45minutes).

After registration and park fees payment, start climbing along a clear trail through plantation and natural forest, thereafter a narrow forest path follow the Machame camp (9,900ft).

Day 2 - SHIRA CAMP ( 12,600ft) about 5-6 hours

In the morning after breakfast, trekking through the forest, steep ridge passing through heather and open moorland and then crossing a large gorge to Shira camp.

Day 3 - BARANCO CAMP (12, 850ft)

After breakfast we hike to lava tower (15,180ft) with lunch on the way baranco, the descend slowly to Baranco camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 - BARANCO HUT TO BARAFU CAMP (14,910ft)

After breakfast, we will pass the last water drop at Karanga valley on the way up. Overnight at Barafu camp.

Day 5 - UHURU PEAK THOUGH THE STELLA POINT (18,640ft)

At midnight, we will get some bite (biscuits) and chocolates, start ascending to Uhuru peak through the stella point then reach the summit and then head down to Mweka for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 - DESCENT TO MWEKA GATE

After breakfast will descend to Mweka gate with lunch boxes, then back to the hotel in Arusha.
